THE HERITAGE CANADA FOUNDATION
TOP TEN ENDANGERED PLACES LIST
NOMINATION FORM
The Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) first launched the Top Ten Endangered Places List on Heritage Day 2005 to bring national attention to some of the many sites at risk due to neglect, lack of funding, inappropriate development and weak legislation. The Top Ten Endangered Places List has brought considerable national attention to the listed sites and provides support to advocates building a case for conservation at the local, provincial and national levels.
It has become a powerful tool in the fight to make landmarks, not landfill.
The list is compiled from nominations submitted and from reports and news items that HCF has been following and reporting on throughout the year.
HCF evaluates selected sites based on the following criteria:
- Significance of the site
- Urgency of the threat
- Community support for its preservation
Please answer the following questions about the site you are nominating for inclusion on the Top Ten Endangered Places List. HCF reserves the right to contact the nominator to confirm the nomination and answer any additional questions about the site.
