Héritage
Magazine
The
Heritage Canada Foundation publishes a quarterly magazine. This
bilingual publication is delivered to our members as part of their
membership benefits.
Héritage
features stories, reports and commentaries on the country's historic
buildings and places. It explores ways to preserve the best from
the past and improve the livability of Canadian communities.
To
ensure that members are fully informed on Heritage Canada, the magazine
publishes articles on the organization's principles and policies,
as well as on its future directions.
Through
the production and distribution of Héritage magazine, the
Heritage Canada Foundation emphasizes the importance of Canada's
built heritage to our quality of life.
Sharing Insights From Our Recent Strategic Planning Experience:
Where to Start and What to Keep in Mind
Strategic planning is one of the most important – and often overlooked – responsibilities of not-for-profit organizations. It is through strategic planning that organizations define what they do, why they do it and how they get it done.
In the fall of 2004, the Heritage Canada Foundation completed its own strategic planning exercise. As a service to our colleagues in the broader heritage community, the Foundation has developed this brief case study that strives to capture the essential elements, the key insights and what we have learned from our experience.
Although this is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to strategic planning, we hope that this case study will provide you and your organization with a basic understanding of the key steps in a strategic planning process. We also hope that it will have a positive impact on your own planning efforts.
Key concepts covered include planning, environmental scanning, plan development and implementation (including monitoring and review.)
